In 1902, citizens of the community of Goodwill, in Madison, North Carolina felt a need to construct a place in which to worship God.
John H. Gibson gave two acres of land on which the first church was built. The first pastor was Sandy A. Gilmore. Several other ministers were installed.
In 1972, Pastor B.H. Bonham was installed. Under his leadership, a new structure was built, because of the growth. He served until 1981.
Reverend Benjamin Mittman was installed in 1982.. Many accomplishments were made. A permit was obtained to begin construction on a new addition to the church. He served until 1989.
In 1990, Dr. John A. Jackson was installed as pastor. Under his leadership, the addition begun under the previous pastor was completed in 1991. Under Pastor Jackson's leadership, the church was renovated inside. The sanctuary was remodeled and the basement was remodeled.
Much needed equipment has been purchased. Several programs and ministries have been implemented. Dr. Jackson has served for 15 years and continues to lead this congregation.
Twenty eight acres of property has recently been purchased for the construction of a new sanctuary and family life center in the near future.
